A CLINICALLY CORRELATION HISTOPATHICAL STUDY OF LEPROSY ON THE SKIN AND PERIPHERAL NERVES
Main Article Content
Abstract
Leprosy, causedby the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae, was once a major healththreat but has become less deadly due to advances in treatment. Despite this progress, leprosy remains a significantissue in tropicalregions, particularly in India, where it continues to affect many people each year. The disease varies in severity and is classified into different types based on symptoms, immune response and histopathology. Accurate diagnosis and treatment are challenging due to limited studies and resources, particularly in India. This study was conducted to address the gap in histopathological research on leprosy, aiming to improve early diagnosis, enhance treatment strategies, and reduce leprosy-related disability.
